Furthering the Canadian animation industry.

The Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) is not only the world’s oldest animation festival, it has been one of Canada’s leading animation events providing exhibits, workshops, and entertainment since 1976. OIAF is an annual five-day event bringing animation and networking together through screenings, panel discussions, and their popular TAC conference. The festival takes place every September, with the previous festival taking place from September 21-25, 2022.

The Pitch THIS! Competition encourages young creators to challenge themselves.

As part of the OIAF Industry Conference, our studio sponsors The Pitch THIS! Competition which happens every year as part of the festival. This competition sees young artists take their compelling show ideas and turn them into ready-to-present pitches for a number of judges in the industry. Our studio provides mentorship throughout the process and supplies a prize of $5000 cash to the winners along with other perks. These types of events promote growth in the industry and provides entrees with the skills to start pitching in a professional capacity.

“2022 was the first time I had attended OIAF, and it was an amazing experience. Representing Mercury Filmworks and getting the chance to meet so many incredible people in the animation industry was a dream come true.” Ashley Ferguson, Marketing and Communications Coordinator at Mercury Filmworks

OIAF brings Canadian animation together one year at a time.
