Platform Release: The Interrupting Chicken
The Interrupting Chicken is Apple’s newest preschool series, introducing Piper the chicken and her friends.
Our studio partnered with Apple TV+ on their newest preschool series, The Interrupting Chicken. The story follows Piper – a young chicken who has a habit of interrupting story time! Every time Piper hears a story, she jumps in, asks questions, and lets her imagination run wild, inserting herself to save the day. The first season of this series released in November, 2022 on Apple TV+. Our VP of Co-Productions and Originals Chantal Ling is an Executive Producer on the series, along with our CEO, Clint Eland.
This heartwarming show is based on the Caldecott Honor-winning book series written and illustrated by David Ezra Stein.
Interrupting Chicken was adapted by the Caldecott-Honor winning book series by David Ezra Stein and features the voice of Emmy award winner Sterling K. Brown as Piper’s father. Ron Holsey also Executive Produces on the series, known for his work on Sesame Street.
“It was such a joy to partner with Apple on this wonderful series. So much love went into creating a series that celebrates writing and storytelling. It was not always easy, especially considering we were all separated and working from home, but as a team we persevered and continued to make magic as we always do.” – Chantal Ling, VP of Co-Productions and Originals at Mercury Filmworks
Piper teaches young children that it’s okay to speak your mind and ask questions.
Piper and her adventures teach young children that asking questions and speaking your mind is how one solves problems. Often children are dismissed, or told to be quiet if they’re interrupting, when in fact Piper and her friends teach the exact opposite. This series shows preschoolers they too can take up space, and let their voices be heard as the next generation of storytellers. Learn more about the series here.
